Futura is a sans-serif typeface that was designed by Paul Renner and released in 1927. Renner strongly followed the Bauhaus design philosophy. He believed that a modern typeface should reflect modernity, therefore he used geometric proportions and clean forms. Futura was the first typeface on the moon, as it was chosen for a commemorative plaque left by astronauts of Apollo 11. In addition to that, Stanley Kubrick used Futura in many of his films, including 2001: A Space Odyssey. Now it’s used by Louis Vuitton, Best Buy, Absolute Vodka and many others.
